This document requires students to use higher order thinking skills in order to convert decimals, percentages, and fractions. I usually color code this activity and assign colors to groups of students and/or individuals as a form of differentiation instruction. We usually complete the first and last tasks together. The second and third task becomes a color and the 4th and the 5th task is another color.

This worksheet reviews the placement of decimals and place value through an original graphic organizer which features a speaker and color-coded sound waves. The lesson is one page which was designed to be printed in color. It should take about 15-20 minutes to complete, a fun filler which is not all play and no work. Texas standards and a simple guide to this lesson's use are provided on the second page.

No matter what I do I have kids that will simply not line up the decimals. So I made this, hopefully the color coding will help. (I hate the colors, but it was the best I could find). I am going to do the 1st five on the Smartboard, then the rest they will do on their own. I am printing them in color and “laminating” the top half with masking tape, so they can use dry erase on them and repeatedly place in them in the chart and work them out there….

Students will cut their own memory cards containing fraction, decimal, percent equivalents. This is a great exercise for individuals or partners. I recommend using as a center or a review game. There is a worksheet for you to quickly check students' ability to match the fractions to their equivalent decimals and percents. Cards are color coded with various fonts to help struggling learners. These could also be printed in black and white for more of a challenge. Card stock works well for th

Decimal Guard

A solution for teachers when students forget to align the decimal point when they add or subtract. Coming from a military family, my father used to say that soldiers must align before their superior. Therefore, what better use for a soldier to guard decimal points. I selected the London guard because the uniform is red and so cute. Remember, soldiers must align vertically when they are in duty.
