This slides file is designed to help students in a Lower Elementary Montessori classroom recognize (subitize) quantities then add sums that cross over the ten mark (dynamic) My students love this! You could do this presentation as a warm up activity where they say the quantities out loud or you could have them answer on a dry erase board for informal assessment.

This slideshow is designed to help students learn to subitize their tens then mentally add numbers less than nine to make a quantity visually. With practice, they would see three golden tens and a green two bar and be able to say "32". The extension work after this exercise would have a student build quantities using the tens board.
