Many of our students struggle with anxiety and currently there is a great deal of anxiety surrounding sickness. A friend of mine was given a countdown for her daughter to help her stop anxiety attacks. She asked me if I could put it into words that might be a little easier for her daughter to understand so she could use the countdown more independently. The result was this rhyming story that recounts the same steps as the original countdown but with engaging language and helpful visual supports.
