Having Students Take Initiative for their Grades

Here and there I have my students fill one of these out after looking at their grades, so that they can become more responsible. The great thing about this is it allows them and their parents to see what actions they can take in order to get a better grade. Something I really believe is that most students who have bad grades, have that grade because they don't know how to get a better grade. This sheet allows students to own up to why they have a bad grade, while also allowing them to ask themse

Speech Therapy Session Information Sheet for Parents

I use these information sheets with my students for speech. I have found that parents love these because it tells what we did in speech, what goals we worked on, discusses their child's behavior during speech, and tells whether the child is making progress. I print and cut the paper into threes (on the lines) so that I can use one sheet for one student. Then I fill out the name and date information at the top for each student, circle the appropriate boxes for the activities the student did in s

Responding To The "Shy" Label - Advocating For Your Child with Selective Mutism

Early intervention for Selective Mutism is crucial. Left untreated, children may come to view themselves as 'people who don't speak,' reinforcing this perception in others. Children with SM can speak can be very silly, loud, and talkative when comfortable! Please avoid labeling a child as 'shy' in their presence, as it can perpetuate the belief that they can't speak. I've created a resource for parents to respond when someone refers to their child as 'shy.' To learn more about the author, Dr. A

This is great for the beginning of the year or as an intervention for students struggling with foundational concepts. Check the skills you'd like the students to work with and what they need to do when they're done. Place this sheet on top of the worksheets and/or activities you want students to complete.
