Inductive Spanish Grammar - gustar

You won't have to teach grammar anymore, just let the "Piensapapel" do it for you! They contain examples of a grammar concept, and through questions and instructions, guide the students to discover the grammar concept on their own. I give these sheets to students the day before we go over the grammar concept. They come to class with the completed sheet, and take a bell-ringer quiz on that grammar concept. Then we go over what they didn't understand and review anything they might need. I allow

Vocabulary for Realidades Chapter 1a

This Power Point I use when presenting the Vocabulary for Realidades for the first part of Chapter 1. It's very simple, just a picture with the Spanish vocabulary term that appears after a mouse click. I like to ask questions in Spanish using the terms like "Te gusta ...?" as I present the new vocabulary. The last few slides describe how I have students make flashcards for the vocabulary. Once the cards are made they are separated into picture and word cards and we play a variety of games u

Two vocabulary sheets: 1) Blank on both sides for students to fill in 2) Pre-filled on one side, blank on the other The way I use these is that one side is filled in and the other is blank. Students should use the blank side to study for quizzes. The filled in side is a resource for classwork. For other languages, you can delete the Spanish and write in the vocabulary in the target language. I also use these same pictures on quizzes and classwork to practice. Vocabulary: eat, run, walk, dri

Quiz: subjunctive conjugation

For this quiz, students simply need to prove their ability to conjugate a verb to the subjunctive mood; they do not need to know yet how to use it properly. Since the emphasis is placed on proper conjugation (since in my experience, it gets easily mixed up with the present and the imperfect), I added conjugation tables for the irregular verbs. Students need to be able to properly identify which verb stem to begin their conjugations with. Students do also need to know irregular stems for this q

In the next part, students see a pronoun and one of the face symbols, and they have to create a complete sentence using the correct form of estar. Finally, there is a sections with fill-in-the blank statements where students fill in the correct form of estar, plus see how to form quest

French Physical Descriptions

Nothing fancy, but three pages: 1. Chart with some physical descriptions and an image to label at the bottom. 2. A modeled 'Guess Who'/'Qui est-ce' which culminates in them presenting orally for the class to guess. 3. A sheet to fill out descriptions of three people for a partner to guess. Sheet #2&3 can be done by just describing people in the class, or I use the free QUI EST-CE document found here.

A back to school or end of year activity. Students anonymously fill out the sheet and once done, the teacher assigns a number to each student's work. They then post the sheets all around the room and students do a "gallery walk" reading each description and writing their guess of who the student is on a separate numbered sheet. Take up the activity by revealing each students' number and whomever has identified everyone correctly, wins.

This worksheet is designed as introductory practice in the Spanish future tense. I suggest reviewing the instructions with your class, reading all the sentences in English, identifying the verbs in the English sentences and then do #1 as an example to the class. Allow them to work on the assignment and then check it as a class to ensure that they understand the future tense concept. All the verbs used in this worksheet are regular verbs.

First day speaking activity for French learners (fully editable) Speaking is a huge part of learning a second language, although learners are often intimidated or self conscious to speak in a second-language classroom. I have my learners speak in French as much as possible from the first day of class onwards. This helps to normalize it for all. This resource is a "find someone who..." bingo-style card to get to know classmates. Learners ask one another if they like different activities and then
