STEAM House Template for Fine Motor Skills

I made this simple house outline template to use during Three Little Pigs center with Pre-K after hosting a Three Little Pigs story time. In a tray in the middle of the tables I placed legos (for bricks), little stick pieces (from Michael's), and fake straw/hay material (from Michael's.) My pre-k students were able to "build" houses while exercising their fine motor skills for the Three Little Pigs in this sensory/STEAM activity.

Teacher PowerPoint for "Can You Program a Robot?" Lesson. Use with accompanying videos of researchers visiting classrooms to talk about their research: Dr. Ning Zhang (biomaterials), Dr. Clayton Mulvilhill (shock tubes and lasers), and Dr. Liang Sun (air taxis, drones and robots). Lessons and videos encourage students to follow a STEM education pathway to join these exciting fields. Key idea: Robots “work on their own,” only if humans program them effectively. This active learning activity has

Bare-Bones Physics: Structural Engineering for Bridges and Buildings

Like all my Bare-Bones Physics Labs, this activity works within the limited time periods available and shorter attention spans that are characteristic of my student population. It is always my goal to have students working with their hands after no more than a 10-minute introduction to the subject and to wrap up their projects in about 90 minutes. To be clear, this approach is not the “scientific” or engineering method of starting with a hypothesis, then building, testing, evaluating and documen
