This lesson also involves students going over basic mathematics skills such as adding, multiplication, and division. I use this timed quiz with my first grade students every Friday when we begin studying addition facts in the Everyday Math curriculum. Every week, students who score a certain number correct get their names added to the "I have Fact Power!" poster and are exempt from the following weeks' quizzes (many opt to take them anyway!) I find it really motivates my students to memorize and have quick recall of those pesky basic addition facts that are the foundation of so many higher-level math skills. T
