It is hard to find graphs for students to be able to identify where a function is increasing, decreasing, constant, domain, range, maximums, minimums, and function values. I have worked really hard over the years to create my own graph to use as practice or even a quiz on these topics.

I have created a wonderful quiz on the library of functions. I have used Cubic function, Absolute value function, Identity function, Square root function, Square function, and Reciprocal function. Students must match the graph, name, domain, range, increasing, decreasing for each function. This quiz is a great tool for assessing your students understanding of the characteristics for each function.

The student identifies minima and maxima, tells how many intervals of increase or decrease are in a graph(if any) and writes the intervals of increase and decrease in interval notation. This assignment can be completed at socrative.com or printed and done on paper. Also included in this zip folder are 5 more Power Point files. 1 is a Intro to intervals and extrema and 4 are assignments. A brief description of each

Open Ended Task Functions Precalculus

This task is aligned to www.flippedmath.com Precaluclus course units 2 and 3. I have adjusted the course to fit the pacing of my class. You can use this in any Precalculus course where you want to asses student knowledge without the constraints of one correct answer for each question. It is very telling of what students can/cannot do and what they do/do not understand. If you use this, make sure you integrate questions like this throughout the unit so students know how to tackle these open-ended

This item is a functions review activity to be used at the end of a functions unit in Algebra 2. Students look at graphs and try to match the different characteristics to each graph. Some graphs may look different but may have some of the same characteristics, which makes this activity challenging. The characteristics included are: domain, range, x and y intercepts, increasing and decreasing intervals, end behavior, and horizontal and vertical asymptotes. I like to get my students out of the
