Graphing Denisty
We use mass and volume and plot them on a graph making 3 lines. We discuss why something might sink or float due to its density. We graph 3 objects, Water with a density of 1, a pencil with a density of 0.5 and a rock with a density of 2. This could be given to honors Algebra or Earth Science students or be used as guided practice with regular education students. It makes density more real life than just using numbers. It includes using the literal equation D=M/V and also the slope formula. I

KNOW Math Strategy
I use this as a way to get my students ready to really analyze a math problem and determine what the problem is actually asking. As you know, the SBAC requires students to break a problem apart to determine what to do. I include a SHOW and TELL element so students practice writing about their math.

2D Flat and 3D Solid Shapes Pack
This packet includes a shapes PowerPoint that asks students to identify both 2D flat and 3D solid shapes in everyday objects.
The packet also includes a 2D flat/3D solid shape sort and three worksheets asking students to identify and color 2D flat shapes in various arrangements. The 2D shape ID activities increase in difficulty. They are ideal to be used as quick whole class assessments.
