Art: Kandinsky Circles
This is a very simple lesson based on the work of russian artist Wassily Kandinsky . just about every art teacher has some version of this lesson in their repotare. I have done it many times and many different ways, and have found this method to be my favorite.
I usually do this simple, 2 class lesson with 1st graders but I would be right at home in any 2nd or 3rd grade class.
It is a great lesson for increasing young artists dexterity and control, through the drawing of concentric circles. In

Jasper Johns Multipication Table lesson plan - shapes in art
This is another one of those Arts Integration projects that I really believe in. The end product is a great tool for 3rd-5th grade students & probably the most artsy way I can think of to make a multiplication table. The idea is to recreate the style of Jasper Johns "Numbers" in a multiplication table. This lesson is a great way for students to apply shape/form as elements of art or teach unity as a principle of design. The end result is a tool the students will be able to use for a long time
