I created this lesson to teach my students in grades 3-5 about light, depth and silhouette. Upon completion of this project they will know how to depict light in a work of art and understand the difference between a shadow and a silhouette. In addition they will learn the meaning of foreground, mid-ground and background.

In addition, this project is a great companion lesson or activity to a science, geography, solar system, continents and hemispheres.
