My gifted & talented students LOVE to learn about 'random' things. Semaphore is a system of flag signals used by the US Navy to communicate over long distances while underway at sea. In this slide show, I introduce semaphore, group the letters for ease of learning, and describe how a message is sent. The lesson concludes with two examples of semaphore used in pop culture and a creative activity where the students will use semaphore to create a symbol of their own. This slide show can be used
