About the store
I hold a Master’s degree in Special Education and have worked as an educator for over 20 years. Throughout my career, I have supported students with diverse learning needs, collaborated with multidisciplinary teams, and developed legally sound, measurable IEPs grounded in data and best practice. I am also the parent of a child with special needs. That lived experience deeply informs my work. I understand both sides of the table, the educator perspective and the parent perspective, and I work to bridge that gap with clarity and strategy. As a professional special education advocate, I support families in IEP meetings, eligibility determinations, transition planning, and dispute resolution. My focus includes measurable goal development, accommodations versus modifications, compliance with federal and state special education law, and strengthening school family collaboration. I am the Founder and Executive Director of Bridges 2 Advocacy, a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to advocacy services, scholarships, and training for underserved families. I founded EmpowerEd Consulting to ensure that both families and educators have access to practical, structured resources that lead to productive, legally sound meetings and meaningful student progress.

Experience

I hold a Master’s degree in Special Education and have worked as an educator for over 20 years. Throughout my career, I have supported students with diverse learning needs, collaborated with multidisciplinary teams, and developed legally sound, measurable IEPs grounded in data and best practice. I am also the parent of a child with special needs. That lived experience deeply informs my work. I understand both sides of the table, the educator perspective and the parent perspective, and I work to bridge that gap with clarity and strategy. Teaching style

My approach is structured, strategic, and student centered. I believe special education should be grounded in clarity, measurable data, and collaboration. Families deserve transparency. Educators deserve practical tools. Students deserve plans that are individualized, defensible, and designed for real progress. I translate complex legal and procedural language into clear, actionable steps. My resources are designed to eliminate confusion and replace it with structure, preparation, and confidence. I do not promote conflict. I promote competence. Whether you are a teacher refining IEP goals or a parent preparing for a meeting, my work focuses on helping you move from reactive to prepared. Strong meetings are not emotional battles. They are informed conversations. That is the standard I teach.

My own education history

I hold a Master’s degree in Special Education and bring more than 20 years of experience as an educator, consultant, and advocate. My professional preparation includes advanced coursework in behavior analysis through the BCBA program at San Diego State University, leading to specialized expertise in behavior intervention planning and functional analysis. I hold certifications as a Transition Specialist, Autism Specialist, and English Language Learner specialist, allowing me to support students across diverse and complex needs. I have completed COPAA Advocate Training Levels 1, 2, and 3 and have participated in over 2,000 IEP meetings. This experience provides a comprehensive understanding of procedural safeguards, compliance standards, measurable goal development, and effective meeting strategy. In addition to my professional background, I am the parent of a child with special needs. That lived experience shapes how I approach advocacy, collaboration, and communication. I serve as the Founder and Executive Director of Bridges 2 Advocacy and the Founder of EmpowerEd Consulting, working to expand access to advocacy services, training, and educational equity for families.
