Grab your green origami paper or green construction paper! These Origami Leprechaun slides are a quick and easy multistep direction activity for March. I'm using them in my library Makerspace with 1st - 5th graders. Origami "How To" activities are great for building functional text comprehension skills. This could easily be used as a classroom activity during reading small groups or on enrichment choice boards. The last 3 slides include images of spring inspired brick building challenges. Enjoy!

Experience

Teaching style

In our library, we do fun. We move, we shake, we inspire, we make messes, and we seek answers to questions our minds become curious about. We have high expectations and yes, there is rigor and curriculum, but the priceless, spontaneous, teachable moments far exceed the 'hum drum" of standard school days.

Awards & shining teacher moments

My biggest awards come in the form of smiles, hugs, and light bulb moments. A simple thank you goes a million miles and the joy of teaching a child to love reading and technology is the greatest achievement I could ever ask for.

My own education history

Graduate of Old Dominion University GO MONARCHS!

Additional biographical information

Not only do I have the best job, I have the best family! I have a wonderful husband who supports my quirky, constantly questioning nature and I am a mom to a handsome boy. They are both my world! When not teaching or in the library, I love to travel and explore new ways to live more eco-friendly.
