About the store
Hello TPT world! Most recently, I have experience as an Instructional Facilitator (school-based coach of all things.) I have taught 3rd-6th grade as a reg ed and gifted classroom teacher. My experience also includes working with children K-5 as a reading interventionist, a gifted education support teacher (and this was my favorite things to do), and a science and math enrichment specialist for grades 3-5. My jam is teaching ALL students to think, and I want to help you make this happen in YOUR classroom.

A Note for A Scientist

Your students have completed all steps in the scientific method, and their work looks great! Now what? Use this "Note for a Scientist" to allow students to give each other feedback on the projects they have completed. You can use this as purely a reflective activity, as part of the final grade for a project, or as a grade for the student completing the checklist.

Experience

Hello TPT world! Most recently, I have experience as an Instructional Facilitator (school-based coach of all things.) I have taught 3rd-6th grade as a reg ed and gifted classroom teacher. My experience also includes working with children K-5 as a reading interventionist, a gifted education support teacher (and this was my favorite things to do), and a science and math enrichment specialist for grades 3-5. My jam is teaching ALL students to think, and I want to help you make this happen in YOUR classroom.

Teaching style

I love teaching students to THINK! I want students to be confident in what they know, but I want them to be also just as confident in what they do NOT know. How do I do this? Rubrics! Rubrics for math, rubrics for reading, rubrics for writing, all the rubrics! You can find rubric examples as well as rubrics already created for you to purchase. I also believe in teaching ideas that are transferable between subjects so that learning can be connected across disciplines.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I am the most proud to be the recipient of the 2011 Marcellus Waddell Excellence in Education Award.

My own education history

I graduated from Wake Forest University with a degree in Elementary Education. I also have Academically and Intellectually Gifted certification from High Point University and my National Board is Early/Middle Childhood: Reading/Language Arts (ages 3-12) under my belt.

Additional biographical information

I'm not a frills type of teacher. I'm a data-driven, quality content type of teacher. I like to have fun with my class but they know when it's time to get down to business.
