About the store

Experience

Elementary and secondary math teacher. Currently I am an Adjunct Professor with the MAT program at University of Southern California.

Teaching style

I am a strong proponent in using the "Models of Teaching" and using Roger's Reflective Model. I like to use Universal Themes of "Patterns" and "Relationships" in presenting math problems that are authentic.

My own education history

Michael Hazelton, founder of 20 Days Mathematics, has taught mathematics at all at most grade levels, For more than 40 years, Michael has taught children ranging, from elementary through high school, led professional development sessions, spoken at educational conferences statewide, written children’s books, and created mathematics resources for teachers and administrators. He has fully implemented mathematics standards at most grade levels, thus giving him insight as to which standards students should spend more time and more fully master, in order to experience success with four years of high school mathematics courses. All of his experience has been in school settings with significant emphasis in serving disadvantaged youth. In each of these settings he has demonstrated student performance improvements in math and language skills along with improved attendance and school safety. He has served as the west coast liaison for Harvard University’s Principal’s Center. In addition, Michael has been a co owner of Preschools and a private, independent school in Southern California. Currently, he is an Adjunct Professor of Education at the University of Southern California.
