Experience
I’ve been in the classroom for the past five years, teaching everything from middle school science and career skills in Title 1 schools to my current role as a 6th-grade self-contained teacher. I’ve worked with students from a wide range of backgrounds and learning needs... and I’m passionate about creating materials that actually work in the real world of teaching.
Teaching style
My classroom is built on relationships, structure, and grit. I use what I call the REAL approach: Relationships, Empathy, Authenticity, and Love & Logic to connect with students and create a consistent environment where they feel seen, heard, and motivated to grow. Teaching isn’t fluff... it’s boots-on-the-ground work, and my resources reflect that reality.
My own education history
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, my MBA in Marketing, and later returned to earn my Master of Arts in Teaching. My work blends business-level organization with classroom-tested strategies to help students grow and help teachers simplify their workflow.
Additional biographical information
I’m the creator of the COMIC Write Process... a flexible, scaffolded writing system I use every Wednesday with my own students. I’m also the founder of 27 Desks, a brand focused on providing real resources for real teachers. Outside of school, I’m a family man, outdoorsman, and a lifelong learner with a soft spot for students who need a little extra push (or a funny prompt to get them going).
