For science teachers, energy is a hard unit to teach. Hero's Engine shows how energy in converted from one for to another. For this I used the Engine set I found in my storage area, but you can look around or find other engines available in your school district. I did this as a demo, but you can expand it in a chemistry lab. This unit includes all the worksheets that you'll need to study for energy, and can be used to introduce alternative energy.
