Currently, I am teaching Fifth Grade Math in Virginia. This is my 27th year of teaching. I began teaching Pre-Kindergarten for 3 years and moved to 3rd grade for 3 years. I moved to 4th grade for 11 years and now I am happily teaching Math in 5th Grade.

Distributive Property Card Game
Students use cards to determine the numbers that are going to be used.
They then use the distributive property to find the product. Depending on a flip of a coin, the higher or lower number wins.
This makes a great partner game or a center.

Experience

Teaching style
Hands-on, interactive, technology are just a few of my teaching styles. Every unit that I teach, I find a book to introduce the topic and use many games to re-enforce what I have taught. Small grouping when students need extra help and enrichment activities for students who need higher thinking are also part of my plan.
