I have 20 years experience in public education. I have taught high school science, middle school science, middle school language arts, middle school math, and exceptional children (inclusion as well as resource ELA and Math). I have taught in a regular setting, an alternative school, a separate school, and an elementary BED (now ED) classroom. My varied experiences give me a wide range of knowledge areas.

I believe that to prepare our students for 21st century jobs we need to prepare them for the real world. I allow collaboration and critical thinking to be a part of every unit. I have mastered the blended learning style of teaching. I plan on mastering the flipped classroom style of teaching to make me more adaptable to different classrooms. I can also do a traditional classroom style, but that doesn't work for many students today.

Bachelors degree in Biology Secondary Education from Appalachian State University

I am a mother of a wonderful daughter. I live to teach because I believe that is why God placed me on this earth. I believe that every student has needs beyond our classroom, and my job is to reach that child and find a way to make a difference in their life as well as their educational experience. My hobbies are reading, trying new educational technology, and watching crime shows on TV. I am also an avid sports fan.
