Teaching style

My teaching style is rooted in the belief that learning should be an engaging and interactive process. I strive to create a classroom environment that encourages curiosity and fosters a love for learning. I believe in the power of hands-on learning. That's why I incorporate a variety of teaching methods, including group work, projects, and interactive activities, to cater to different learning styles. I aim to make math not just a subject, but a tool that my students can use to solve real-world problems. I also believe in the importance of building strong relationships with my students. I strive to understand their unique strengths and challenges, and tailor my teaching methods to meet their individual needs. I'm not just their teacher, but their mentor and guide, helping them navigate the exciting world of learning. Above all, I believe that every student can succeed in math. It's all about finding the right tools and methods that work for them. And that's what I hope to provide through my teaching and this store.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Over the years, I've had some truly memorable moments in my teaching career. One of the highlights was being named 'Teacher of the Year' in 2023 - an honor that I'm incredibly proud of. It was a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion I bring to my classroom every day. But the achievements don't stop there. I'm also immensely proud of my math team, who have been recognized for their excellence in middle school algebra. For the past three years, we've been awarded the 'Creed Algebra in Middle Schools' award, a prestigious recognition that comes with a $10,000 prize. And the cherry on top? We've been ranked number one in the district, a testament to the hard work and dedication of my amazing students. These achievements are not just mine, but ours. They're a reflection of the vibrant, hardworking, and dedicated learning community we've built together.

My own education history

My own educational journey began right here in El Paso. I'm a proud product of the local school system, having attended Socorro High School. Those formative years played a big role in shaping who I am today, and it was there that I first discovered my passion for math. After high school, I was thrilled to continue my education at the University of Texas at El Paso. It was an enriching experience that not only deepened my love for math, but also ignited my desire to teach. I'm proud to be an alumna of UTEP, and I carry the lessons I learned there into my classroom every day.
