About the store

Experience

I graduated from the University of Alabama in May 2017 with a dual certification in special education and general education. I am certified to teach Pre-K through 6th grade general and special education. I interned for a full year. I taught one semester in a k-3 special education classroom and one semester in kindergarten. I began teaching special education in a Title I school in Tuscaloosa in August 2017 and I can truly say I love what I do!! My students are truly the best students I could have ever asked for!

Teaching style

I try to use many different methods of teaching during my instruction. I have a very broad range of academic levels between my students so I always try to diversify lessons to reach all learners! I teach students with learning disabilities, dyslexia, autism, and other disabilities so adapting to fit the needs of my students is something that I do on a daily basis.

Awards & shining teacher moments

This is my first year teaching, therefore, I have not been honored with any honors/awards. I always tell people that the biggest reward a teacher can gain is the love and respect from his/her students! :)

My own education history

I grew up in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and attended many different schools throughout my years. I graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School in 2013. I started my college career at Shelton State Community College where I served as an ambassador before transferring to the University of Alabama to finish my undergraduate degree. Currently, I am pursuing my masters in special education at UA. Needless to say, I will always bleed crimson and white. Roll tide!!

Additional biographical information

I got married to my high-school sweetheart in July 2017. Together, we have a dog named Scout and a hedgehog named Ophelia. He keeps me laughing and supports all of my crazy plans! He has the most giving heart anyone could ever ask for and he is always helping me with my classroom. I am blessed with the best!
