For 27 years my passion in public school education was in the area of teaching the as-risk population, special needs, and students with learning disabilities. My philosophy has always been to meet the students at their emotional and intellectual level then guide them to the desired outcome. I use teaching strategies that combine positive reinforcement and natural consequences that allow students to process the cause and effect of their own learning and behaviors.
Teaching courage, confidence, self-reliance and self-determination is important for mental health and wellness. When students master these attributes they have the freedom to reach their highest potential.
When students learn how to master their emotions and thoughts they are better prepared to handle the stressful situations that life tosses in their paths.
I am committed to providing a balance curriculum that empowers students to live, learn and excel under stressful conditions and in ways that honors themselves and others.
