Experience

Currently, I am an English and Study Skills tutor through Varsity Tutors. I have had students ranging from kindergarten to senior year in college. While I was obtaining my Masters in English from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville I was TA. Afterwards I taught at Fusion Academy as an English and History teacher for 2 years. In the past I was a peer tutor in the writing center at Hudson Valley Community College. For many years I was Sunday School assistant teacher before becoming a lead teacher.

Teaching style

My style of teaching style is grounded in the desire to assist students in the process of finding the path of education that works best for them and then help them begin "walking" forward. I encourage and guide students as they work to find the tools that work best for their learning style(s). To reach these goals I like to use what students love to jump start an understanding of materials and concepts; then use their momentum to move onto the more curriculum specific readings and assignments.

My own education history

I obtained my MA from the University of Tennessee Knoxville in 2022. In May of 2020 I graduated from SUNY Albany with a Bachelors in English with a minor in Creative Writing. Before UAlbany I earned a Liberal Arts and Science: Humanities and Social Science (honors) Associate's degree from Hudson Valley Community College.
