Significant Figures (or Digits) are the bane of many students and, therefore, teachers. This is a pretty straightforward guide to help students identify which figures (or digits!) are significant, and which aren't. I have two of the same sheet - one with significant figures and one with significant digits, as I have found some folk to be adamant about using one or the other! There are answers at the bottom of the sheet, so students can check themselves.

Students sometimes have a tough time with metric prefixes if they haven't seen them before or if they haven't used them in a while.
