Simile, Metaphor, Personification, and Hyperbole practice, Blooket practice, Gimkit practice, and an ending unit quiz. Each practice and test increase with question difficulty as you transition through it. I have the slides broken into separate assignments (to post on TPT I had to place all of them altogether ) (I recommend making a copy to have the Figurative Language Slides separate from the practice), depending on how you wish to teach the activity I use a day per section with the next day
That last week of school before winter break can be exhausting, especially when you are frowned upon for throwing on a movie. Here's an alternate, with a little bit of everything; these Google Slides are filled with 20+ slides of The History of Santa Claus Questions(web search), a small Google Earth Assignment, Holiday Movie Voting (updated each December), Ornament assignment, Grinch adjectives, This or That section, Ugly Christmas Sweater Design, Christmas Word Search, Spot the Difference Slid
Students will watch Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse and practice building fractions, converting fractions to decimals and percentages, and adding fractions with like denominators.
This scavenger hunt is designed to keep the kids active while helping them transition from exhibit to exhibit. It's not overbearing, so they still get to experience and have fun in each exhibit. They will take pictures of different things trying to get as many on their list as they can. When we come back to school the following day we can take the time to share those pictures in a google presentation.
The following assignment is to support and engage students with writing and understanding Hyperbole. I found that if the teacher checks them to make sure they're appropriate it's really fun and engaging for the students to be able to share their work on this assignment with the class afterward.
Using the US Bureau of Labor and Statistics to help students have a better understanding of career options and choices in terms of education needed, pay, duties, and similar job options.
With the holiday approaching just wanted some engagers to keep students still writing and practicing skills up to the break. Nothing too complicated and some of them could even be described as "fun"!
For the following assignment students were given time to plan a vacation using google slides. Once they've been adequate prep time the students will present their dream trip to the class.
Working with Scientific Notation has different little nuances that one can use to really understand the material. This interactive game can help students understand the different areas of Scientific Notation. It also allows the teacher to range questions, more difficult for their higher learners, and questions that may be easier for lower students. How I did it in my classroom... I separated the class into two teams(it works better if you have an odd number of kids, so kids become matched up
