Teaching style

My teaching style blends creativity, structure, and student-centered engagement. Whether I'm leading a middle school ELA class or designing resources for global learners, I prioritize clarity, curiosity, and connection. I believe students learn best when they feel seen, supported, and inspired—so my lessons are designed to meet diverse needs, incorporate multiple learning modalities, and spark meaningful discussion. I bring my virtual teaching experience into every resource I create, ensuring they are adaptable, tech-friendly, and interactive. I love using storytelling, humor, and hands-on activities to deepen comprehension and encourage students to take ownership of their learning. My goal? To create materials that are ready-to-use, standards-aligned, and engaging enough to keep both students and teachers coming back for more.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Some of the most rewarding moments in my teaching journey haven’t come from awards or certificates—but from the smiles, breakthroughs, and unexpected thank-yous from students and parents alike. 💬 Parent Praise from Across the Globe: Teaching over 1,000 lessons to international learners through VIPKid, I received consistent five-star ratings and heartfelt messages from families who saw real growth in their children’s confidence and language skills. 🎉 Classroom “Aha!” Moments: Whether subbing across grade levels or leading structured English instruction, I live for the moment a student's eyes light up because they finally get it. From reluctant readers discovering a favorite genre to shy students sharing boldly during Socratic seminars—those are the wins that matter most. 🏅 Trusted by Colleagues and Students Alike: During my time in Hamilton County Schools, I was frequently requested by teachers and administrators for my reliability, adaptability, and ability to build rapport quickly in diverse classrooms. 📚 Creative Lessons That Stick: Some of my proudest moments came from lessons I designed myself—ones that made middle schoolers laugh, think, and ask for “one more page” or “just five more minutes.” Those lessons now live on in the resources I share here on TPT. Each product I create is rooted in these real, rewarding teaching moments—built not just from theory, but from years of connection, trial, and joyful learning.

My own education history

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Secondary English Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where I developed a deep love for both classic literature and creative pedagogy. During my time there, I completed extensive fieldwork in local classrooms, worked alongside mentor teachers, and gained hands-on experience crafting engaging, standards-aligned lessons for grades 6–12. Since graduating, I’ve continued to grow as an educator through ongoing professional development, virtual teaching platforms like VIPKid, and real-world classroom experiences in Hamilton County Schools in Tennessee and schools in South Carolina. My passion for education doesn’t stop at the classroom door—I’m always learning, always adapting, and always looking for ways to make learning more meaningful and memorable for my students. Now, I bring that same mindset to the resources I create: grounded in pedagogy, informed by practice, and designed to support both teachers and learners.

Additional biographical information

Hi, I’m Brooke—a lifelong educator at heart and a certified secondary English teacher with a passion for making learning meaningful, interactive, and fun. Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to teach. (I even played a teacher in a play and “taught” my baby brother using whatever I was learning in school!) Today, I bring that same enthusiasm to the classroom and to every resource I design. I hold a B.S. in Secondary English Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and I’ve had the joy of teaching a wide range of students—both in person and virtually. I specialize in middle school ELA, where I’ve found the perfect balance of silliness, sincerity, and deep thinking. I love creating resources that are so fun they don’t feel like learning—but they’re always rooted in real standards and structured to build lasting skills. One of the most unique parts of my teaching journey is my role as a virtual teacher inside a traditional classroom. Using Google Meet and a SmartBoard, I lead classes with the help of in-room assistants. Students can join me live, interact via chat, and engage through printed or digital materials—creating a dynamic hybrid space that blends the best of tech and tradition. This format has helped me connect deeply with students who might not speak out loud but thrive in the chat, and I truly believe it represents the future of flexible, inclusive learning. Outside of the classroom, I’m a proud animal lover and former farm kid—I’ve raised everything from alpacas to pigs to rabbits. These days, I spend my time reading, cooking, traveling, taking long walks with my spouse of 13 years, and spoiling our small dog. I hope the resources in my store bring laughter, connection, and authentic learning to your classroom—just like they have in mine.
