About the store
I've taught multiple grades in a variety of schools - from extremely high-performing gifted students to low income, non-AYP schools. I'm certified 1-6 and have interned in 1st and 4th, but taught in all the others. My favorite grade is 3rd. I have also taught in three different charter schools as well as traditional public schools. I worked at the Kennedy Space Center as part of a Summer Industrial Fellowship for Teachers. During that time I shadowed college students from around the world who worked with NASA and government contract employees. During this time, I developed many lesson plans for Dynamac Corporation and NASA and my own personal use. I also am a founding board member for one of the most successful charter schools in our county and assisted in writing two additional charters.

Classroom procedure manual based on Harry Wong

If you like Harry Wong, you will love these procedures! Each year that I have taught, I've modified these to my liking. I never post rules in my classroom. Each child gets a folder at the beginning of the year with these sheets inside (I use plastic protectors for the best results). Students can refer to procedures at any time, as can you! I have examples of how to head a paper, what to do when you're done with your work, how to line up, how to work in small groups, and more! I have also include

If you are a fan of Harry Wong, you will like this classroom job organizer! (actual download is not white text with black background - it will print and be viewed as a standard word doc file) Using paint cards from local stores, organize and streamline your classroom jobs with this great download! Remember the skit of Bill Cosby talking about how his kids must be reminded of every step, even to take a shower? (His son comes down with pajamas clinging because he forgot to dry off, for example)

Mardi Gras Activity Centers

There are five activities for students to complete. Most should be done in a center, but some can be done independently as well. I've included directions on how to make maracas and beads. Students are also encouraged to read about the history of Mardi Gras and create a crossword using the information. Many of the centers are hands on and two of them will need at least three days to complete (art projects that will need to dry).

This PowerPoint shows how plants are researched at the Kennedy Space Center and how they will be utilized in future space explorations. Included in the PowerPoint is a 7-step activity to make a miniature greenhouse. Most of the photos in this PowerPoint were taken by me personally while working out at the Kennedy Space Center. Gary is a real person who worked on many of the plant experiments for future exploration and expansion!

This is a PowerPoint of the parts of a human cell. It has a lot of animation. It's not too long, but includes a good portion of information and ways to help students remember the functions of the parts of the cell.

I use this graphing activity every year and it's a hit with all my co-workers! This can be kept very simple or it can be quite challenging! Included are the directions for the graphing activity as well as directions for the Venn Diagram (you can actually copy it and hand it to the students, but it's also easily editable as well, so you can make any changes you wish). I also included a page of suggestions and accommodations for different ages/abilities. The is a great holiday activity that still

This is a bulletin board package. It does not include the border, gold coins, pot, or rainbow, but it does include quick ways to make those items in order to make a quick and easy bulletin board. The books can be customized in MS Word to include dates to make a calendar-type bulletin board or you could include a child's picture and name of a book as part of a Learning is Golden theme.

This is a PowerPoint presentation on the benefits of a multi-age, co-teaching classroom. This was originally created for "selling our principal" on the idea. It worked!

Teaching style

I enjoy thematic teaching that reaches multiple intelligences. I like engaging activities that promote student inquiry and hands-on group activities. I often have students work in small groups, but in a structured environment. I do give students opportunities to evaluate decisions they have made regarding their behavior and I always allow students to take some time to compose themselves, should they need to do so. I provide a safe learning environment. I like students to show their knowledge in a variety of ways but also expect that they can transfer their understanding to a standardized test as well.
