About the store
I've been teaching art for over a decade, working across all levels; from introducing elementary students to their first sketchbook, to guiding high schoolers through the full AP Art & Design portfolio process. I currently teach AP Drawing, AP 2D Art & Design, and AP 3D Art & Design at an American Cooperative School. Over the years, I've taught studio art at every level, developed curriculum from scratch, and learned what actually works in a real classroom, not just in theory. The resources I create here are the ones I built for my own students, refined through real use, and designed to save you the hours I spent figuring it all out.

Experience

I've been teaching art for over a decade, working across all levels; from introducing elementary students to their first sketchbook, to guiding high schoolers through the full AP Art & Design portfolio process. I currently teach AP Drawing, AP 2D Art & Design, and AP 3D Art & Design at an American Cooperative School. Over the years, I've taught studio art at every level, developed curriculum from scratch, and learned what actually works in a real classroom, not just in theory. Teaching style

Honest answer? It depends on the day and on the student. Some days I lead with the studio: hands in the materials, making before thinking. On other days, the concept has to come first, because a student with a strong idea will find the technique. And my favorite days are the ones where I get out of the way entirely and follow where a student's curiosity is already pulling them. What stays constant is this: I believe every student has something worth investigating. My job is to help them find it, push it further than they thought possible, and get it on a surface.

Additional biographical information

Above the Clouds started as a simple idea: the resources I was building for my own classroom were too good to keep to myself. If I spent hours designing a weekly AP planner or a critique sheet that actually worked, another art teacher somewhere probably needed the same thing. Everything in this store is made by a working teacher, for working teachers. Practical, well-designed, and built around how real students actually move through a school year. I hope something here saves you time, sparks an idea, or makes a Monday morning feel a little more possible.
