Students are asked to draw 30-60-90 right triangles and then they explore the relationships of the lengths of the sides. Students hopefully will understand that all 30-60-90 right triangles are similar triangles. This leads to the basic foundation of trigonometric functions.
Since this is a discovery exercise students are engaged in active learning techniques which can better help them to understand future work in trigonometry.
