Hi, and welcome to Active Science Resources! My name’s Ariana and I'm a Science/Biology teacher from Melbourne, Australia with more than 20 years' experience. I believe the key to good teaching is VARIETY, so I like to break up a lesson by including various combinations of activities, such as short videos, experiments, discussion/group work, activities, worksheets and digital interactives. It is also important to cater for different abilities and learning styles so I use a lot of differentiated tasks and worksheets in class. I like to ask probing questions that encourage students to really think, or to take initiative and carry out their own Internet research. I think it's important to create a learning environment that is fun and engaging, but it's just as important to ensure that students have a thorough understanding of basic concepts, so revision of content is something I tend to emphasise.

I know how much time and effort goes into preparing lessons, so my goal is to save Science teachers heaps of time by creating resources that are not only engaging for students, but also thoroughly researched and factually accurate.
