This is a WONDERFUL way to have students remain accountable for missing homework. As students are instructed to turn in homework, students who do not have theirs (for whatever reason) are instructed to fill out a pink slip and turn in as a place holder for their homework. This gives students a chance to explain why they didn't do their homework, as well as give teachers a go to if a student says they had an assignment when they didn't.
Give a small gift to your students at the end of the year! I put two starburst packs (the small packs with two starbursts each) in a small baggy (I always use the fold over sandwich bags that are super cheap), then staple the tag to the bag which also helps keep the bag closed!
