About the store
After college, I began working as a Direct Support Professional in a group home for adults with developmental disabilities. Working in this environment was my greatest learning experience and one that is so special to me. I later worked for the same agency as a Community Habilitation worker, with young adults. Starting off as a paraprofessional transitioned into teaching, I have been working in District 75 in NYC for 10+ years. I teach students who have autism and are multi-sensory, hands-on learners. I love working in this field because I learn something new every single day.

Experience

After college, I began working as a Direct Support Professional in a group home for adults with developmental disabilities. Working in this environment was my greatest learning experience and one that is so special to me. I later worked for the same agency as a Community Habilitation worker, with young adults. Starting off as a paraprofessional transitioned into teaching, I have been working in District 75 in NYC for 10+ years. I teach students who have autism and are multi-sensory, hands-on learners. I love working in this field because I learn something new every single day.

Teaching style

I apply the phrase 'less is more' to all my instruction. I am very explicit and build in frequent breaks in our classroom schedule. I build in opportunities for interaction throughout the day. I believe repetition and routine is crucial for both maintaining skills and progress.
