I SPY Phonics

Students use the words to find the pictures. Fun ISpy game to work on phonics! The words include blends, digraphs, and vowel teams. This helps students connect correct spelling of words. Also, this helps with vocabulary, ex. “ the plant is next to the swing”, “the stop sign is red”. These can be used in the power point or printed out and put in a reusable sleeve with a dry erase marker.

Experience

This is my second year in Special Education Life Skills! This means that I have worked with students varying in learning levels and needs. I typically work with students with High Needs. I started creating resources for myself and wanted to share them with others! This includes MAP-A aligned and AAC adaptable lessons.

Teaching style

Based on the needs of my students, I have more success with hands on and real life activities. I use visuals and phrases along with the hierarchy of prompting to allow independence for each student. Some of my students use AAC devices, I strive to adapt lessons that connect with AAC users. I prefer real life learning activities compared to worksheets. This is what works best for my teaching style and the type of students that I work with!
