About the store
I believe every student has a story worth reading. I spend my days navigating three distinct worlds: juvenile detention, mental health treatment, and an expulsion program. In these high-stakes environments, I’ve learned that teaching isn't just about lesson plans: it’s about connection, trauma-informed safety, and the radical belief that every student deserves a fresh start. My name is Ms. W, and my journey into the "other side of school" has been shaped by a deep fascination with the intersection of literacy and human behavior. With a B. A. in Secondary English Education, Creative Writing, Classical Studies, and Teaching English as a Second Language, I have spent my career developing a multi-layered approach to classroom management and differentiated instruction. Whether I am presenting my research on gamified ELA at the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) or designing 6–12 curricula as a Department Head, my focus remains the same: meeting the social-emotional and academic needs of students whom the traditional system has often left behind. Currently, I am further bridging the gap between education and psychology through graduate research in Instruction and Curriculum (Grand Valley State University) and eventually in Forensic Psychology (Arizona State University). I believe that the tools that work in alternative education, connection, agency, and radical consistency, are the same tools that can transform any learning environment. Ctrl Alt Teach is more than just a TpT store; it’s a living record of the resilience found in our most misunderstood students and the systems we build to help them thrive.
