About the store
I am a classroom teacher-turned-Reading Recovery teacher/coach who is passionate about the power of literacy to open doors. I have been teaching for 14 years--10 in the classroom (grades 1-7), 4 in literacy specialist roles. I am National Board Certified in the area of Early and Middle Childhood Literacy and am a Teacher Consultant for the National Writing Project. I am especially passionate about reading and writing, and more than anything, I want every child to experience the POWER of literacy, as I did and still do.

Experience
I am a classroom teacher-turned-Reading Recovery teacher/coach who is passionate about the power of literacy to open doors. I have been teaching for 14 years--10 in the classroom (grades 1-7), 4 in literacy specialist roles. Teaching style
I am that teacher who creates impromptu songs for and with my students to help them connect with content. I am that teacher who wants to make literacy as meaningful as possible through community engagement projects and real-world applications. I am that teacher who believes that the entire environment of the classroom--from its colors and lighting to the words on the wall--have an effect on the experience of the students. I am that teacher whose students take books to the restroom break to read while waiting. Yes, I am that teacher who LOVES literacy to the core, and want to share that passion with the world.
