After Recess

I’ve spent over a decade teaching in elementary classrooms, including Title I schools. During this time I mentored teachers, supported school/district wide initiatives through leadership roles and within the trenches. My experience spans special education, general curriculum, and instructional design.

I believe in meeting students where they are and designing learning experiences that honor their individuality. My teaching style blends structure with flexibility, always aiming to nurture curiosity, confidence, and connection.

Two-time recipient of the Southern Rivers Bright Ideas Grant, recognized for creating engaging, student-centered resources that support diverse learners. After Recess was born from these moments of turning classroom wins into tools that help other teachers thrive.

My work is shaped by research‑based practices that support diverse learners, including trauma informed approaches, inclusive design, and resource development that reduces stress for teachers and increases independence for students.💜

My years in education shaped the way I see students, teachers, and the work that happens inside classrooms. Even though I now work in the tech world, the heart of my career has always been centered on supporting learners and the educators who guide them. My background in Title I settings taught me the importance of meeting students exactly where they are and helping them grow to their fullest potential. I believe every student is capable of learning when they feel supported and understood. After Recess was created with that belief at its core. It is a space designed to help teachers move away from the pressure of simply doing school and toward practices that nurture students and lighten the load for educators. Every resource is built with intention and care so teachers can focus on connection and learning instead of stress and overwhelm. My goal is to offer tools that feel practical and genuinely supportive for real classrooms and real teacher lives.
