Students need to learn division strategies that make sense to them. This is especially critical when they start working with larger dividends.
We want students to have conceptual understanding, not just be able to follow a set of procedures.

Experience
I have taught mostly upper-elementary age students in a variety of school settings, including public, charter, private and on-line schools since 1994. I enjoy teaching all the subjects in a traditional self-contained classroom, but my passion is in helping all students feel successful in math.
Teaching style
I believe in providing students with meaningful and relevant learning experiences throughout the day. I try to keep all learning tasks at an appropriately challenging level with real content and as open ended as possible to allow for differentiation.
My own education history
I have a B.A. in Elementary Education with a minor in math, and a M.A. in English as a Second Language.
