Teaching style

My teaching style is rooted in high expectations, real-world relevance, and strong relationships. I believe in structure, consistency, and culturally responsive teaching that meets students where they are while pushing them to grow. I blend clear modeling, engaging discussion, and restorative practices to create safe, respectful learning environments where students feel seen and challenged. Whether in the classroom or coaching educators, I lead with purpose, passion, and a belief that every student can achieve with the right support and effort.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I’m a multiple-time recipient of the Beating the Odds Award from the University of Arkansas Office of Education Policy, an honor given to schools that demonstrate exceptional student growth despite challenging demographics. These awards reflect my deep belief that zip code doesn’t define destiny and that with the right systems, relationships, and instruction, all students can thrive. Throughout my career, I’ve led school turnarounds as a teacher, coach, principal, and now assistant superintendent. I’ve helped schools transform cultures, close achievement gaps, and build educator capacity from the inside out. Every product I create is grounded in that mission to help educators and students win.

My own education history

I hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Biology from Alcorn State University. I went on to earn both an Educational Specialist degree and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Mississippi College, deepening my expertise in school improvement, leadership development, and systemic change. Additionally, I completed a District-Level Leadership Certification through the University of Arkansas to support my work at the executive level in public education.
