I have used this passage specifically with my 4th and 5th graders. We have been working on understanding historical text, looking at cause and effect, and main idea. Whether I have called out sick and have a sub, need an engaging learning video, or just want to have a fun Friday, I often make worksheets to go along with a Magic School Bus episode. The kids enjoy watching and it helps build a skill of note taking! For my students still struggling with basic writing or fine motor skills, I give them a traceable copy so that they are still building the skill of taking notes, and engaging with fine motor practice. The kids have loved doing this!

With having multiple grade levels in my classroom, I needed something consistent that I could build independence with in the morning. Each week I try to make a quick recipe with my class, and we connect it to a math standard we are working on. My class has been working on fractions and measurement conversions, so we made milkshakes and had to convert our measurements! The class rocked it and actually making the milkshakes helped them conceptualize the measurements and fractions!
