I was having a hard time with coming up with homework assignments that fit each level of student and parents were asking for homework to do at home with their student. While there is not evidence supporting homework, I wanted to accommodate my families who are willing to spend extra time working with their student. I have used this passage specifically with my 4th and 5th graders. We have been working on understanding historical text, looking at cause and effect, and main idea. There are only three questions for this article because I wanted something attainable for my students to work through during their independent center time.

Whether I have called out sick and have a sub, need an engaging learning video, or just want to have a fun Friday, I often make worksheets to go along with a Magic School Bus episode. The kids enjoy watching and it helps build a skill of note taking! For my students still struggling with basic writing or fine motor skills, I give them a traceable copy so that they are still building the skill of taking notes, and engaging with fine motor practice. With having multiple grade levels in my classroom, I needed something consistent that I could build independence with in the morning. Each week I try to make a quick recipe with my class, and we connect it to a math standard we are working on. My class has been working on fractions and measurement conversions, so we made milkshakes and had to convert our measurements!
