This resource includes a slideshow to introduce a construction project for a technical theatre class. Students will be required to read a play (reading as a class beforehand is best), design a set piece or prop, build it, and reflect on the process. This aligns well with the Technical Theatre standards. This is also translated into Spanish for a dual-language classroom. This project is a great distance-learning lesson where students will create a Gobo out of household materials such as construction paper. They will then get to see how a Gobo can shape the light, further solidifying that new vocabulary to be used in lighting design. This is a great single-day lesson that the students really seem to get into. Includes Spanish translations for a dual-language classroom.
