This is a Google Drive folder containing resources to prepare students for the Customs and Traditions unit IO. The folder contains: -8 Google Slides practice IO’s (I have students do this with a partner. One student chooses a photo and runs through the presentation as best as they can. Then, their partner engages in a conversation with them. They should try to cover as much as they can - description of the photo, explain the tradition, cultural connections, 2 themes, opinions, etc. Afterwards,
CUCHARAS -- How to play!Put students in groups of 4 or 5. Each group receives a dice and an amount of spoons that is the equivalent of all the students in the group minus one. For example, groups of 3 would receive 2 spoons and groups of 4 would receive 3 spoons. Every student in the group should receive a CUCHARAS paper. On the back of the paper, students should write the name of each group member on the blanks above CUCHARAS. The first student rolls the dice and then conjugates the first verb
This is a 4 corners activity that reviews customs, traditions, and holidays both in the U.S. and in Spanish-speaking countries. There are 5 prompts. Students are to discuss in Spanish with the peers in their corners why they chose what they chose. Afterwards, we follow up with a class discussion.

Students will read an article on los Castells - a tradition of Cataluña in which groups of people gather to form human towers! Included is the article, pre-reading vocab and questions, comprehension questions, and post-reading response questions. This is for higher-level Spanish students.
Interpersonal speaking activity where students must produce original sentences using the verbs ser and estar. The prompts are in English but they must speak in Spanish using the words that they know. After, I call on students to share what they discussed with their partner. This holds all students accountable to stay on task and and in the target language.
This is a practice worksheet for negative tú commands where students have to write their own original sentences using the verb provided. The first part requires students to give advice to a new student at their school using a negative command (telling them what NOT to do at our school). The second part has students re-write sentences as negative commands with an object pronoun. 16 sentences total.
Affirmative tú commands whiteboards with direct object pronouns. You could also turn this into a PearDeck or practice quiz. This includes regular and irregular verbs. Many of the verbs have to do with quehaceres vocab, but you can always switch out some of the words when you make a copy.
