Retelling Rubric

I used this rubric to grade a written retelling of a story. I would choose any story, read it to the students (or if older, have them read silently) and have them write a retelling. By giving them the rubric as they write, they know what they need to include. I found a lot of students would 'grade' their work first, then turn it in to me.

Weather Calendar Chart and Predictions

I used this calendar to have students chart the weather for a month as well as printed the classroom calendar larger (poster size) to post in the classroom. We used the prediction page to make predictions about the upcoming week. The students had to use their Weather Calendars to guide their predictions.

Use these title sheets and number-pads to track student progress in Accelerated Reader points. I used a fun frog clip art to travel from lilly pad to lilly pad to show their monthly progress. Once at 100, they received a lunch date with ME! I put this board on the front of my metal desk, so I was able to use a magnet on the frog and avoid tape and make for quick movement.

I used this Literacy Packet Cover to guide students on their progress as well as 'post' their grades. I had them complete the information on the front and I inserted the grades and returned the whole packet at the end of the week. It kept the students organized as well as the teacher!
