About the store

Experience

I have been teaching Algebra 1 for about 19 years. I mostly have had all co-teach classes with all levels of students including those with IEPs, EB, and 504 accommodations.

Teaching style

Due to what I want all of my students to be able To do and know (some might say a bit Diva like 🤪), I have come up with methods to help all students access the curriculum at their own individual level. I do all of the differentiation within my classroom. It’s not just simply removing an answer choice or simplified wording, but guiding them through the process so they gain the math confidence needed to persevere. As we all know, students are at different levels and sometimes we have to meet them where they are to help them grow and exceed expectations.

Awards & shining teacher moments

No awards as I prefer to stay under the radar😆. There have been many shining teachers moments. I work in mid-low income area and as we all know, the state test isn’t the end all or a measure of what we know students know…using my differentiated work, my students have exceeded my expectations for years with + 80% passing rate and that includes all sped, EB, and struggling learners. I have seen modified students help other students due to the confidence they have gained. Students who are not self starters, become self starting and persevere when things seem "too hard".
