Experience

I’m a certified middle and high school math teacher with a passion for creating engaging, student-centered resources that make complex concepts easier to understand—and even fun to learn! Over the years, I’ve developed a wide range of activities that promote critical thinking, collaboration, and confidence in the math classroom. My experience in diverse classroom settings has taught me the value of hands-on learning, visual supports, and open-ended tasks that get students talking and thinking deeply. Every resource I create is designed to help students build connections, spark curiosity, and grow as mathematical thinkers.

Teaching style

Math education is evolving—and so are the needs of our students. With traditional textbooks no longer meeting every learner where they are, I design resources that fill the gap with clarity, purpose, and connection. Each activity I create targets common student misconceptions, reinforces prior knowledge, and builds toward lasting understanding. You’ll find hands-on activities like card sorts, student-created problems, real-world scenarios, and collaborative challenges—all designed to get students talking, thinking critically, and applying their learning in meaningful ways. Whether you're reviewing key skills or introducing new concepts, my goal is to make math feel accessible, engaging, and achievable for every learner. When I’m not teaching or creating, you’ll probably find me cheering on the Astros, spending time with my family and dog, or curled up with a good book. I’m passionate about making math feel doable and even enjoyable—yes, even for the skeptics!

My own education history

I began my teaching career in Las Vegas, Nevada, where I taught 7th and 8th grade math for four years. Since then, I’ve spent the last nine years teaching middle school math in Katy, Texas. My experience includes on-level and advanced courses, including Algebra 1, and I’ve worked with a wide range of learners across different classroom settings. I earned my degree in education from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2006. Over the years, I’ve developed a passion for creating resources that not only support student understanding but also challenge learners to think critically, build confidence, and make meaningful connections in math.
