All the Stuff

Includes two outlines: one for writing informational essays and the other for writing opinion/argumentative essays. These outlines help students to understand and correctly use the organizational structure to write a 5 paragraph essay.

This Mission Impossible themed power point engages students in solving high stakes multiplication and division word problems. I had my students follow along using their white boards and markers and they had a blast! I made a big deal about them making sure that they had chosen the correct operations and had labeled their answers. I created these short assessments to prepare my students for both district mandated benchmark tests and the end of the year S.A.G.E. test. Each test is designed to assess students understanding of 3rd grade key concepts by showing their thinking and using multiple representations . There are 8 assessments total including: area/perimeter, multiplication, fractions on a number line, rounding, place value, graph interpretation, addition, and subtraction.

I used this as a math starter while teaching the multiplication and division unit. The starter assesses students understating of multiplication using multiple representations. I would have a student roll a pair of dice to determine what the multiplication fact of the day would be and then as each student completed each representation I would check them off and they would begin practicing their multiplication facts. Print the cover page and then as many of the second page as is needed. I stapled

*For this activity the students will need a set of 20 tiles (you could also use graph paper or cubes) to use individually or to share with a partner.* I used this worksheet as guided practice for teaching distributive property using area. The practice leads to a question formatted after the SAGE practice test. I often used the last page as a quiz when the lesson was over to assess student understanding.

*Your students will need tiles or graphing paper for this activity* I use this activity for students to review area while I work with small groups of students during math RTI. You could also use it as a whole group activity or an individual assignment.

This game is great for teaching students the difference between area and perimeter. I liked to play this game in groups of 3-4 students but you could also have the students do it on their own or with a partner.
