I am in my 20th year of teaching. I've taught gifted elementary for five years and gifted/special needs/regular middle school for fifteen years. My first school was at a performing arts middle magnet school in Tampa, FL where I was tasked with integrating the arts into my science, math, and social studies curriculum with my team. Experience

For the past ten years, I have been a Gifted Intervention Specialist working with students from grades 2-8 as well as collaborating with regular classroom teachers who have students identified as gifted.

Teaching style

My style is very open-minded. Having co-taught with Intervention Specialist, Gifted Specialists in the past as a regular classroom teachers I have learned to "learn" from others. I am hands-on, student-centered in my philosophy. Students should be working harder than the teacher.

Awards & shining teacher moments

While teaching in Tampa, I received the Social Studies teacher of the Year award. I received recognition with the science-based community learning with Earth Force where students complete a science service learning project. I've written several articles for the Ohio Association for Gifted Children Journal about a Bridge Card Club group I started with gifted learners and a career unit I developed with our librarian and English/LA teacher for gifted learners in Grade 6.
