Hi! Welcome to my TPT store! I’m currently exploring translanguaging pedagogy and actively working to incorporate strategies that value and build on students’ full linguistic repertoires. My goal is always to create a classroom where students, especially multilingual and EAL learners, feel seen, supported, and empowered to express themselves authentically. Teaching style

My teaching is student-centered and grounded in the belief that learning should be both engaging and fun. I design lessons and resources that spark curiosity, encourage collaboration, and invite students to actively participate in building their understanding. My goal is always to make the learning process meaningful and motivating for every student.

Awards & shining teacher moments

In January 2025, I was honored to be selected as the very first “Language Friendly Teacher of the Month” by the Language Friendly Schools organization. This recognition was part of a global initiative to spotlight educators who are making a difference in multilingual, inclusive classrooms. I was nominated for my work in creating a language-friendly classroom environment. The recognition celebrated my commitment to inclusive practices that support all learners, especially students from diverse linguistic backgrounds, and my active role on the school’s Language Support Team. This moment was a powerful reminder of why I teach: to help every student feel seen, supported, and empowered in their learning journey. It continues to inspire my resource creation, from lesson design to scaffolding strategies and translanguaging pedagogy.

My own education history

I hold both a BA and MA in English Language and Culture, with a focus on education and communication. My MA thesis explored how literature can foster empathy and perspective-taking. This continues to shape my unit planning and classroom practice. I'm also IB-trained in Category 1: Language Acquisition and Category 2: Language and Literature, and I use that foundation to create lessons that are purposeful, inquiry-driven, and student-centered. I’m especially passionate about designing resources that are both academically rigorous and accessible to all learners. My lessons often incorporate movement, collaboration, and active recall to engage students in joyful, meaningful learning.

Additional biographical information

I started teaching when I was just 20 years old. Over the years, I’ve come to realise that teaching brings together all of my strengths: communication, creativity, empathy, and a love for learning. It feels like a perfect fit for my personality, and I'm grateful to have found my passion and continue to find enjoyment in teaching, designing lessons, and connecting with students. I’m a big fan of poetry: both reading and writing. I believe poetry is one of the most powerful forms of personal expression, and I enjoy finding ways to get students to be excited about poetry and creative writing. I also love reading, especially autobiographical and reflective works that offer insight into people’s lived experiences and inner worlds. I’m also passionate about languages. I speak Dutch and English fluently, and have a decent understanding of French, German, and Spanish. One of my goals is to become fluent in these three languages as well, not just for myself, but so I can better connect with and support the multilingual students in my classroom. Teaching, for me, is always about connection: between people, between cultures, and between ideas. I'm grateful to be part of a global community of educators who care deeply about inclusive, joyful learning!
