After reading Cris Tovani's book, "So What Do They Really Know? in grad school " I had to use conversation calendars in my classroom! I am so thankful that I did. This basic tool is so useful to see what they REALLY know. Some kids who do not answer in class will write on their calendar. These are great for instant feedback after each lesson. You give the student a copy of the calendar on day one of your lesson and they write down their thoughts, feelings, and questions about the lesson. After

Every year I dread teaching and re-teaching students how to cite text-based evidence. Most of the time they know that they need to find the answer in the text, but they cannot cite text evidence properly. These sentence starters stay on my board all year long to give assistance to those students who struggle with citing text-based evidence. With these sentence starters any student can be a text-based evidence master. I have 3 different options available for you decide which one you like best.

Yes, I know this is all on the computer, but let's face it, sometimes the internet is down or we the number in the computer is not accurate. I always like to have something in my hand with contact information. I have added questions for parents to answer that are beneficial to you before you even begin teaching. However, you can call them statement, question, command, and exclamatory. The sentences DO NOT HAVE PUNCTUATION MARKS. The purpose is for student

Experience

This year will be my six year teaching fourth-grade. For the past five years I have been teaching ELA all day! I also worked for two years in our school computer lab with Kindergarten, first, and fifth grade students. For the past eight years I have worked in my school's After School program with Kindergarten students up to sixth grade students.

Teaching style

My style of teaching changes every year depending on what type of students I have in my classroom. I do not think that students should "sit and get" information all day long. I try to make my lessons exciting and relevant. I read aloud to my students EVERY SINGLE DAY! And yes, I do all of the voices. My goal is to make each lesson memorable to say that they truly learned in my classroom!
