Students will imagine that they are spending the day shopping for Christmas items. Students search for Christmas Gift ideas that fit each sections criteria. There are 6 parts to the assignment where they search for specific items and then calculate discounts, tax, tip and commission. The final portion of the assignment is a "Potluck" meal for Christmas where the students calculate the unit rate of the price of ham to determine which store has the better deal. Students will be forced to use higher order thinking skills when solving adding two ways. Students use adding integer rules to determine the missing numbers needed to complete each puzzle. Directions, 5 adding two way sheets with 6 puzzles per page and answer documents are included.
